This Saturday, I was fortunate to spend the morning with a lovely group of ladies sharing a few card ideas for the holiday season.
These are the cards we made.
What I love most about stamping with others is the creativity that ensues. I love to see what others do with ideas and how they shape them into something of their very own. The discussion of ideas and what can be done with various products and techniques really excites me. I truly hope to have the pleasure of stamping with this group of lovely ladies again if only to share in their creations.
The first card we made was CASEd from www.SudSol.org unfortunately, I can't find the original card. If it was your please let me know so that I can give credit.
The items used for this card are listed below:
- Scallop Circle Bigz die (PN 113468)
- Scallop Circle Punch (PN 109043)
- 1-3/8" Circle Punch (PN 104401)
- Ribbon Originals - Alpine (PN 113100)
- Pink Pirouette 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (PN 111351)
- Very Vanilla 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (PN 106530)
- Chocolate Chip 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (PN 102128)
- Chocolate Chip Stampin' Pad (PN 100908)
- Polka Dot - Background Stamp (PN 109276)
- Deer Friends (level 2) - Hostess set (PN 111572)
To make the card a 8" x 4-1/2" of Pink Pirouette card stock was folded in half and aligned on the Scallop die so that a few scalloped circles were not covered on the large scallop die. This created the nice scallop circle card base.
The Dolka Dot background stamp was then inked and stamped on the cover of the card.
The Gingerbread man stamp from Deer Friends was then stamped on a piece of very vanilla card stock and punched out using a 1-3/8" circle punch. A scallop was then punched from a piece of Chocolate Chip Card Stock and the two punches were assembled.
To create the bow, a gift card was used on the inside cover of the card to determine where to cut the slits for the ribbon. Ideally one would use the Horizontal Slot Punch (PN 105089) or the crafters tool kit (PN 104310) to create the slits. We needed to be creative and use a mat board and sharp scissors tp create he slits. To create the bow, ~24 inches of ribbon was used by threading the ribbon through the slots and tying a bow of the cover. The loop created by the ribbon on the inside is a perfect slot for a gift card.
Finally to complete the card, the gingerbread man was adhered to the front of the card.
The second card used the following supplies:
- Kiwi Kiss 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (PN 111353)
- Very Vanilla 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (PN 106530)
- So Saffron 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (PN 105118)
- Kiwi Kiss Stampin' Pad (PN 111835)
- Versamark Stampn' Pad (PN 102283)
- Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder (PN 101930)
- Heat Tool (PN 100005)
- Embossing Buddy (PN 103083)
- Powder Pals (PN 102197)
- 3/16" Corner Rounder (PN 109047)
- So Saffron Poly-Twill Ribbon 7/8" (PN 111364)
- Snow Swirled Stamp Set (PN 111690)
Let's begin with the card base, the Kiwi Kiss card stock was randomly stamped with the 2 smallest snow flake stamps from the Snow Swirled stamp set using the Kiwi Kiss Stampin' Pad.
The So Saffron ribbon was then attached to the card front using the SNAIL adhesive. We learned the hard way that using glue on ribbon can create some unwanted puckering and that the glue can be seen through the ribbon especially on light colored ribbon like the So Saffron ribbon.
A piece of 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" card stock with the corners rounded was then attached to the front of the card stock.
On a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, the tree from the So Swirly Stamp Set was stamped using the Kiwi Kiss Stampin' Pad. After the tree was stamped and the ink dried, the Embossing Buddy was used to remove static from the stamping area. This is important when using embossing powder or glitter otherwise you can have powder or glitter in unwanted areas.
The tree stamp was cleaned before the VersaMark ink was applied. The tree was restamped It doesn't matter if the stamp is slightly off center as the embossing powder in this case is just used for a shimmery effect. Once the VersaMarked imaged was stamped, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder was then poured over the tree. The excess was poured into a Powder Pal and placed back in the jar.
The Heating Tool was then used to heat set the embossing powder. The tree was then cut down to a 3" x 3" square, the corners rounded and glued on top of the So Saffron base.
As a finishing touch a star from the Bigz Stars #2 (PN 113461) was added to complete the card.
Our third and final card, was by far my favorite card.
To properly explain how to make this card, I truly need and want to devote another posting to it as it would benefit from more pictures. I'll leave you with this tease and ask you to return on Tuesday for the complete instructions!!!! I am such a tease at times (So Sorry!).
Happy Creating!
