Stampin’ Up! Offers many 2-Step stamp sets which create a finished image with depth and color that a one stamp process cannot reveal. This post is a simple example of a 2 step stamping process using the Stamp-a-ma-jig (PN 101049, $11.95) as an alignment aid. If you haven't tried it, come on. Try it!
The Wild Rose (PN 107377, $36.95) stamp set which is retiring on Aug 11, 2008 is used to demonstrate this process. Why? Because it is my favorite set, but that is beside the point.
Okay, Let's get started.
- Stamp the bottom or background image on the paper first. Remember: There is NOTHING wrong with practicing on a scrap piece of paper before creating your final image. Heck, stamp on various colors of scrap paper. You might find that a colored piece of paper provides that added unexpected dimension to the finished image that you were looking for.
- For the second layer or second stamped image, you will need to use the Stamp-a-Ma-Jig for alignment. First align the bottom & left edge of the transparency sheet with the bottom left corner of the Stamp-a-mig.
- Then ink the second die and stamp the transparency sheet while ensuring that the bottom & left edge of the stamp is aligned with the bottom left corner of the Stamp-a-mig.
- Using the stamped transparency sheet, align the image over the image stamped on the paper until the desired alignment is achieved. Then align the Stamp-a-ma-jig fixture with the bottom & left edge of the transparency sheet.
Holding the fixture in place, remove the transparency sheet.
- Holding the Stamp-a-ma-jig fixture in place, Align the bottom & left edge of the stamp with the bottom left corner of the Stamp-a-mig. Stamp the image.
Here is the final image.
Okay, Now it is YOUR turn. In the comment section, add a link of your project using a 2-step stamped image! Remember it is never too late to add a comment or link!
