Oh my, a bird flew in my kitchen this morning and seems to have found a permanent home. I don't mind, I like my new little blue bird. Who knows? I might even make more so he has some friends to enjoy.
Okay... for all of the serious foke out there... I'm just joking about this week's Saturday with Sizzix creation. It is very cute and EASY!
......................................
This week’s post for Saturdays with Sizzix uses the Birds w/leaves & Flowers die (PN 113465) and Scallop Circle (PN 113468) to make a bird for my kitchen.
The pieces of the following card stock colors were used to create this project.
- Brilliant Blue - Bird
- Bashful Blue - Bird
- Pink Passion - Flower
- Gable Green – Leaves
- Green Galore - Scallop
- Basic Brown - Branch &
- Only Orange - Beak.
Below are pictures of the die cut pieces that were made using the Birds w/leaves & Flowers die (PN 113465) and Scallop Circle (PN 113468)
A large hole was cut from the center of the Scallops using the Coluzzle Cutting System (PN 102264 $19.95).
After the holes were cut from the center of the scallops, 1/4" slits were cut in each scallop. For one circle the 2 slits were cut from the outside in being careful not to cut through to the center of the circle. Each slit was cut 180°from the other. For the other circle, slits were cut from the inside of the circle 1/4" towards the outside again being careful not to cut though the circle. Again, each slit was cut 180°from the other.
The scallop on the left (the scallops with the slits originating from the outside in), was placed inside the scallop on the right (the scallop with the slits originating from the inside out). One circle was turned 90°, the slits were lined up. This is very similar to the Olympic star tribute from last week. Click here for more info. Then the scallops were laid flat as shown below to attach the bird.
The bird pieces were glued together and placed inside one of the scallops. The branches and loopy leaf were glued to the bird and one of the scallops to secure the bird and scallop to each other. The Pink Passion flowers were used to hide the ribbon. Since this project will be seen from both sides, the scallop was turned over and the beak, wing, leaf, branch and flowers were glued on the other side as well.
Creating the final 3-D image that is now hanging proudly in my kitchen. Even my husband is impressed.
Don't forget to share your Sizzix creations! I would truly love to see them. If you are interested in becoming a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator click here to view StampThings new "Become a Demonstrator" information page.

That is just the cutest thing! Of course, the bird die is one of the very few I haven't bought yet, and now I "need" it.
