This post falls into the Tuesday Tool Time category as punches will be used to create some cute little embellishments for cards, scrapbook pages or any THING that you can dream up.
This post was inspired by a little turkey from the "punch it up" article on Page 8 & 9 of the October 2008 Stampin' Success Magazine. I loved this little turkey. Although, I didn't CASE it completely. The idea came from the Stampin' Success Magazine. If you would like this magazine, you will need to become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Click herefor information on how to become a Demonstrator and other benefits that you will receive as a demonstrator.
The beautiful plumage on the turkey below inspired the daffodil creation below.
The punches needed to create these cute little embellishments are
- The Scallop Circle Punch (PN 109043)
- The 1-3/4" Circle Punch (PN 104401)
- 1/8" Hole Punch (PN 100391) or on the Crop-a-Dile (PN 108362)
- 3/16" Hole Punch on the Crop-a-Dile (PN 108362) and
- The Boho Blossom Punch (PN 110711).
To Make the Turkey
Let's begin with the tail feathers. As pictures often speak louder than words, below is a step by step example of how to fold a scallop circle to create one of the three feathers needed to create the tail feathers for the turkey.
The head is made from punches from the Boho Blossom Punch, the 1/8" hole punch and a 3/16" hole punch. The picture below shows the base of the head. Make sure to save the remnants from the cut to decorate the body.
To complete the head add two 1/8" hole punches for the eyes and a 3/16" hole punch for the eyes as shown below. A mouth can also be added if desired.
Body of the turkey is made with 1-3/4" circle and a remnant from the head. The picture below shows the head, body and feet.
To assemble the Turkey you will need Crystal effects (or another strong glue), Stampin' Dimensionals and SNAIL Adhesive.
A 4" x 4" square was selected for the base. The Three tail feathers were glued to the base square as shown below using SNAIL Adhesive.
Crystal Effects as then added to the inside folds of the feathers to keep them securely in place.
Dimensionals were placed as shown above for the body, but they weren't tall enough. The picture below shows were the Dimensionals were added on the back of the body and feet assembly. The Dimensionals were stacked 2 high (one on top of the other).
The dimensionals were doubled up on the head as well.
To create the daffodil follow the steps above for the feathers to make 4 petals.
Step 1: Punch a scallop circle for the base. The picture shows a Very Vanilla Card Stock scallop punch. As you may see the base in your finished flower, it is best to use at same color as the petals.
Step 2: Create four petals using the same method shown earlier for the turkey feathers. Glue or adhere the four petals evenly onto the scallop base. Use a strong adhesive in the folds of the petals to keep them securely in place.
Step 3: Adhere a blossom from the Boho Blossom punch onto the center of the flower.
Step 4: If desired add a brad or eyelet to the center of the flower to complete the flower.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial for the turkey & daffodil.
As always, Happy Creatin'
